District staff vote on kindness poster contest on election day
(11/09/18) Election day was held on Nov. 6 and Anoka-Hennepin staff at the Educational Service Center (ESC) had the opportunity to vote on outstanding artwork created by district students.
District ESC staff were the official judges of this year’s kindness poster contest that featured artwork from each grade-level from schools across the district. View photos of the event here.
“The Kindness poster contest is always one of the most fun times of the year,” said Stephanie Ochocki, the district school social worker, who oversees and organizes the poster contest.
This year’s theme was “Kindness works!” More than 100 posters representing each school’s winning submissions advanced to the final balloting at the ESC on Nov. 6.
Voters were asked to select the best poster for each grade-level. Voters were able to submit their votes electronically for the second straight year.
“This is a great way to promote safe and supportive schools and it gives the students a voice while also showcasing their outstanding talents,” Ochocki said.
Participants who completed a ballot received an “I Voted for Kindness!” sticker to help spread the word and commemorate the experience.
The winners of the kindness poster contest will be announced on Nov. 13 and will also be recognized at a School Board meeting in January. Each winner will have their artwork reproduced and displayed for a year at each school site.
