Viktor the Viking visits students at Morris Bye to teach bullying prevention
(01/11/19) Anti-bullying and kindness are messages that Anoka-Hennepin schools implement with various lessons throughout the school year. Recently, staff at Morris Bye Elementary School called in a buddy to assist in spreading the word.
Viktor, the official mascot of the Minnesota Vikings, and a member of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleading team, brought the “Viktor’s Quest to S.T.O.P. Bullying” program to students at the school Jan. 4. The acronym S.T.O.P. stands for Stand up to bullying, Take appropriate action, Open up to an adult, Protect yourself and others.
The program teaches students how to identify bullying as well as the different roles people have in bullying and how to safely and responsibly STOP bullying.
Students also learned the four types of bullying, including verbal, physical, social and cyber, and what to do if any of those occur. The program also included interactive call-in guests, featuring Minnesota Vikings players Adam Thielen and Danielle Hunter as well as the voice of the Vikings, Paul Allen, and Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders.
