Superintendent David Law, BHS teacher Daryl Boeckers join to present ‘Twitter for educators’
(11/07/19) During Anoka-Hennepin’s Nov. 5 staff development day, Superintendent David Law joined Blaine High School (BHS) Spanish teacher Daryl Boeckers at the school to co-present two sessions aimed at helping educators navigate Twitter.
Called Twitter for Educators: Professional Learning Networks, Law said the sessions were aimed at providing educators with tips for navigating the social media tool, ideas on who to follow, and how it can be a goldmine of professional development opportunities, such as education-focused Twitter chats using specific hashtags.
“We also talked about the ways we use Twitter,” Law said. “I use it as a platform to showcase the excellence in the school system, like educators and students who are doing innovative things. It’s also a chance for me to address misconceptions about public education with the community.”
Law, who has about 1,063 followers of his @DLawSuper account on Twitter, said he and Bockers also provided some dos and don’ts to the staff who attended the two sessions. Bockers, who is @dboecker on Twitter, has about 592 followers.
“People asked about boundaries, and I told them not to feel pressure to be doing this constantly,” Law said.
