Rum River Elementary fourth-grade students record holiday songs at Love 105
(12/06/19) Rum River Elementary School music teacher Candace Cooper and her fourth-grade choir members recently embarked on an exciting trip to record holiday songs for Love 105 FM, a Twin Cities radio station that airs music from the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s.
Students and their families traveled to the studio Nov. 25 to meet with Jay Philpott, on-air talent and program director at the station, to record songs for holiday season music.
Rum River Elementary fourth-grade teacher Brad Kasper made the connection with the station over the summer while attending the Minnesota State Fair. He visited the Love 105 station at the fair, and after making positive comments about the station to Philpott, he was invited on the air. In November, Philpott reached out to Kasper to see if there was any interest in students visiting the station to record some holiday tunes.
Students recorded Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells and the Love 105 jingle. Watch the group sing Deck the Halls and Jingle Bells. Listen to Philpott introduce the Rum River Elementary students and the Love 105 jingle.
