District BPA students do well in state competition
(03/12/20) Anoka-Hennepin had a large contingent of students compete at Business Professionals of America’s (BPA) state leadership conference and competition May 5-7 at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis.
The contingent was led by Blaine High School (BHS), a perennial state and national force, which had 75 students compete at state. Champlin Park (CPHS) and Anoka (AHS) high schools also had students compete and qualify for nationals.
There was also one newcomer to the district’s state BPA group. Andover High School (AndHS), for the first time this year, has a BPA team — and while nobody qualified for nationals, the Huskies were welcomed with open arms as a new chapter, according to Tracy Wess, AndHS BPA advisor and business education teacher.
In all, 32 district students in grades nine through 12, will travel to Washington, D.C., May 6 through 10 for the 54th national BPA conference. While there, the Anoka-Hennepin’s students will be recognized for awards, and compete against 5,500 other students from across the country for top honors in the areas of finance, business administration, management information systems, digital communication and design, marketing, management and communications.
