Anoka-Hennepin by the numbers

(09/04/2024) Anoka-Hennepin welcomed back around 38,000 students starting September 3 as the 2024-25 school year began with excitement and busy school buildings in the 13 communities that make up the school district.

As students filled the halls and classrooms and learning continued, none of that would be possible without district operational systems such as child nutrition, buildings and grounds, transportation and many more setting a foundation for a successful learning environment.

By prioritizing effective operations, Anoka-Hennepin creates conditions needed for higher academic achievement and overall student success throughout the school year.

Below are some numbers to consider as students return to buildings across the district.

  • Child nutrition: Anoka-Hennepin Schools feeds 70% of the nearly 37,000 students daily, including an average of 10,760 breakfast meals per day and almost 27,000 lunches daily.
  • Transportation: Around 32,000 students in the district are eligible for transportation services. Vehicles, including buses and vans, travel over 35,000 miles per day, or 6 million miles annually, transporting students to and from school. The district services over 8,000 bus stop locations with 2,000 individual trips every day.

Anoka-Hennepin utilizes 290 yellow school buses and over 100 passenger vehicles traveling to over 60 school sites daily.
