(09/20/2024) As the district reviews and adopts new course materials, it involves staff, students, parents, and the community in the process. This school year, the district will be in its ninth year of using ‘Reading Wonders,’ the English Language Arts (ELA) materials used in district elementary schools, while it begins piloting potential and studying new ELA curriculum materials for the future.
Why now: The ELA standards in Minnesota have changed, making it an opportune time to begin the curriculum review process and ensure any new materials are aligned with the Science of Reading.
Breaking it down: This school year, the district piloting four potential new curriculum materials, including:

Timeline: The pilot process will conclude at the end of the second trimester, in March 2025. Feedback gathered from families, community members, students and staff will inform recommendations that the review committee will present to the School Board for approval in the spring of 2025. Pending approval, the new elementary school ELA curriculum will be implemented for the 2024-25 school year.
