Career Center Hosted Virtual College and Military Visits, Fall 2020

Note: The Anoka-Hennepin College and Career Specialists are thrilled to host our first-ever virtual college and military visits for students. These events will be offered via Google Meets and are a great opportunity for students to learn more about specific colleges and get their questions answered. To access the Google Meet, simply click the name of the school.  Each visit will be led by an admissions representative and will last approximately 30 minutes.  Be sure to mute your microphone and utilize the chat to ask questions.

 9:00 am - Concordia College, Moorhead

10:00 am - Augsburg University

11:00 am - College of St. Scholastica

12:00 pm - Gustavus Adolphus College

2020-2021 Pay Less for College Workshop 

This free workshop is designed to help parents find ways to work within the financial aid system to increase their eligibility for financial aid, reduce taxes, and find more efficient ways to pay for a college education. 

Presenter Mike Branch of Focus Financial Network will cover:

  • Two Types of Aid: Need based and merit based
  • Three critical issues in college planning: taxes, control & financial aid scholarships, and loans & credits
  • Tax credits, tax free savings accounts, and other incentives
  • How to structure income and assets to maximize eligibility for financial aid
  • The four partners in planning: parent, student, school, government
  • Developing your recipe: GPA, class rank, ACT Score, EFC, unique abilities

This year we will be hosting this event virtually. 

  • All Anoka-Hennepin families are invited to sign up to attend.
  • After you register, participants will receive an email before the date of the event with directions on how to join the webinar.

Don't miss it! More than 600 colleges and universities will be online to talk with high school juniors and seniors on each of these dates this fall: Oct 12, Oct 18, and Nov 8. Register now at and log in on the fair dates using your phone or computer. Select which colleges you're interested in and attend their live and interactive Zoom sessions. Also available are NACAC Meet-Ups on finding your best college fit, paying for college, and more. Parents invited, too.

MN-ACAC Virtual College Exploration Events

MN-ACAC is hosting virtual college fairs and panel presentations for students and families weekdays, September 28 to October 14. Students can attend live presentations from admission professionals, virtual panel sessions about various college topics, informational sessions from 150 different colleges from all over the country! Registration opens September 8 and is FREE for students and families.
