Parents/guardians: join us to review new high school health materials
(05/17/19) Parents/guardians and staff, are invited to review new high school health materials at an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. on May 21, in room 113 at the Educational Service Center located at 2727 N Ferry St. in Anoka.
People who attend the open house will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the three possible selections, mainly for 10th graders, which have been piloted this school year: Pearson (Health) and McGraw Hill (Glencoe Health) and Goodheart Wilcox (Essential Health Skills).
Over the past year, the district’s Secondary Health Study Committee has been studying health materials used in middle and high school classrooms. The committee is made up largely of secondary health teachers, but also parents and district personnel. Through an extensive study process, the committee has found three high school health materials that will meet the needs of district students and families.
The committee is eager to examine the three health materials, and for the opportunity to provide our students with the highest quality health education that will build their knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes about health.
A final recommendation is expected by the end of the school year.
