Anoka-Hennepin School Board approves bell times for 2019-20 school year
(03/01/19) The Anoka-Hennepin School Board unanimously approved the proposed bell times for the 2019-20 school year at its regular meeting on Feb. 25. Anoka-Hennepin reviews and adjusts bell times for schools each year to ensure students are transported safely and the school bus fleet is used efficiently.
Changes in student populations between schools and the addition of two new elementary schools has created the need to review and rebalance the routes for the 2019-20 school year.
“The plan is consistent with our current bell time structures and systems,” said Keith Paulson, director of transportation for Anoka-Hennepin. “Each year we put routes together with the help of our computerized routing system, that allows us to make the best decisions on getting students to and from school on time and as safely as possible.”
“The 2019-20 school year in particular, is very unique,” said Chuck Holden, Anoka-Hennepin chief operations officer. “With the addition of two new elementary schools and the boundary adjustments, our transportation department has put together a very complex plan, that we can say with certainty, that this plan is very solid.”

For the 26 elementary schools in Anoka-Hennepin, 11 school sites will be adjusted, six schools will begin later and five schools earlier. Bell times in Hennepin County will not be adjusted, as no boundaries were changed. Sites that will experience bell time changes include:
