Students participate in activities on EL Family night(09/04/2024) Anoka-Hennepin's student services department recently hosted a Multilingual Learner Family Night at the Welcome Center to welcome families to the district.

During the event on Aug. 13, district staff supported multilingual families navigating the school system and provided resources to support a successful transition and start to the school year. A panel of administrators, district and Welcome Center staff shared information about open houses, conferences, transportation, behavior, communication and co-curricular activities.

The Family Welcome Center is located at 11224 Crooked Lake Blvd NW in Coon Rapids and supports families with the enrollment process.

Multilingual families can also participate in Academic English assessments to determine eligibility for additional support through the district’s English Learner (EL) program. Additional supports including community organizations, county services, Early Childhood opportunities and Adult Education resources are available.
