Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation’s ‘Putt-ing Kids First’ golf tournament set for Sept. 8
From parents to community leaders to district staff to local business owners — every year the talk around the water cooler is about how fun it is to play in the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation’s (AHEF) annual Putt-ing Kids First golf tournament.
The 59th annual event is set for 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at Greenhaven Golf Club in Anoka. It’s just $95 per golfer to participate, and includes the 18-hole green fees, a motorized cart, the opportunity to win prizes, and lunch after the event. Registration for the event is now closed. Thank you to everyone particpating this year.
There really is a little bit of something for everyone. From playing as a team in the best-ball-type event designed for all skill levels to the exciting prizes available to participants, to watching Superintendent David Law and his “best-dressed” group of golfers playing the course, the tournament is fun for all. And the best part: all proceeds raised help to create opportunities for Anoka-Hennepin students.
Teams of four or five are welcome, and all skill levels are encouraged to play. Don’t have a team? Not a problem. The AHEF will put you on one.
The golf tournament is best-ball, which means team play is emphasized. Everyone hits from the tee, and then the team hits from the spot of the best ball, picking up the other balls. From there, everyone on the team hits from the best-ball spot, and repeats until the team gets the ball in the hole.
Last year, the AHEF raised more than $25,000 while golfing for a purpose, and the event keeps growing every year because it is so much fun. Funds raised support the Foundation’s strategic priorities of advancing early childhood education, enriching talent development, and expanding career and college readiness.
