Blaine High School "Students In Action" team places first in state competition
(4/18/16) The Blaine High School "Students In Action" team placed first in state Jefferson Awards competition at the University of St. Thomas Apr. 16. The Academy of Holy Angels placed second and Roseville High School placed third in the state competition.
The students worked on projects together over the course of the school year to present and compete against seven teams in the state. (There are currently 300 high schools in communities across the U.S. actively participating in the program.) Teams were judged on a written report explaining evidence gathered in their work; addressing questions related to leadership, engagement and impact; and an oral presentation at the competition. The team also received three additional audience awards for best presentation, greatest impact story and most innovative project.
The Blaine High School youth service team will advance to compete against thirteen top teams in the country at the national "Students In Action" Jefferson Awards competition in Washington D.C. this June.
