America's got talent - and so do our students!
(2/15/18) Anoka-Hennepin Community Education showcased 21 students performing 18 acts from middle schools across the district. Auditions are held at each school the first two weeks in February, and three to four acts from each school were selected to progress to compete in the districtwide middle school talent show, held at Roosevelt Middle School Feb. 15.
Acts ranged from singing, dancing and showcasing musical talent with pianos, guitars, cellos and ukuleles. This is the second annual districtwide middle school talent show, and community education staff encouraged students to continue rehearsing for the show scheduled next year.
Students are judged on a range of criteria, including skills and ability, audience response, stage appearance and personality, originality, and overall performance.
Awards were given as follows:
Third-place winner: Ikemsinachi Osuorah, eighth-grade student from Roosevelt Middle School. Osuorah performed a dance solo to the song, "Do Not Disturb."
Second-place winner: Elise Seburg, seventh-grade student from Oak View Middle School. Seburg performed a vocal solo to the song, "Cowboy Casanova," originally sung by Carrie Underwood.
First-place winner: Emma Miller, eighth-grade student from Roosevelt Middle School performed an original vocal and guitar solo entitled "I Love You."
