Jefferson and Sand Creek Elementary floor hockey teams took top honors at districtwide elementary school floor hockey tournament, Apr. 6

Teams compete in districtwide elementary school floor hockey tournament Eight teams comprised of over 100 fourth- and fifth-grade students from eight elementary schools across the Anoka-Hennepin School District competed in the annual districtwide youth floor hockey tournament Sat., Apr. 6 at Anoka Middle School for the Arts - Fred Moore campus.
Floor Hockey teams and leagues are coordinated through Anoka-Hennepin Community Education, which coordinates enrichment classes and activities at each school across the district after-school, on the weekend and over the summer months. Teams practiced for the past month, learning basic floor hockey skills and the value of teamwork and sportsmanship.
A total of fourteen games were played in the tournament, with the first game beginning at 9 a.m.,  and the championship game concluding the day at noon. Teams from the following elementary schools participated in the districtwide elementary school floor hockey tournament:
  • Adams Elementary ThunderhawksJefferson Elementary first place floor hockey
  • Franklin and Hamilton Elementary Warriors
  • Jefferson Elementary Big Boiz
  • Jefferson Elementary Raptors
  • Mississippi Elementary Otters
  • Sand Creek Elementary Cardinals
  • Wilson Elementary Futures
  • Wilson Elementary Legends

Final standings were:

  • First place team: Jefferson Elementary Big BoizSand Creek Elementary floor hockey
  • Second place team: Sand Creek Elementary Cardinals
