Kicking off the 2019-20 school year: Anoka-Hennepin staff to gather for annual convocation event Aug. 29
(08/23/19) For students, the school year begins the Tuesday after Labor Day. But for Anoka-Hennepin staff, the first day of school usually begins a week earlier with the district’s annual convocation event during back-to-school workshop week.
This year’s event is slated for Thursday, Aug. 29, and the third-annual, hour-long convocation will be a high-energy affair that celebrates Anoka-Hennepin’s excellence, highlights organizational goals, and includes inspiring messages from district leaders and a special guest. The district’s back-to-school video will also be premiered at the event.
This year’s convocation event will be a little different. In previous years, some 3,700 district staff members boarded buses and took field trips to their respective cluster’s high schools for the event. This year, staff will remain in their schools and sites with their own teams, but will tune into a live broadcast of Superintendent David Law and others guests for the event.
Convocation will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last about an hour. School officially begins Tuesday, Sept. 3.
