September 17, 2013

Purpose of the Organization: PTO is organized for the purpose of supporting the education of children at Johnsville Elementary School by fostering relationships among the school, parent, and teachers. The organization will not seek to control administrative policy of the school but may offer input. JohnsvillePTO@gmail.com

Meeting called to order at 6:30p.m.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
• New security system installed in August and put into implementation week of September 9.
• Family fun night was a huge success! Thank you to the families that took time out of their busy schedules to come and walk and have fun!
• Dunk tank is on Friday September 20th during the school day.
• Picture day is on September 24th and September 25th for our A day kindergarteners.
• 5th grade field trip on October 1st to MN Heritage lab at Wargo Nature Center
• MAP testing for grades 2-5 in reading and math
• Fall conferences Monday October 7th from 12:30-8:30pm, Tuesday October 8th from 7:15-8:15am and 4- 8pm, and Thursday October 10th from 7:15-8:15am and 4-8pm. Scholastic book fair going on at the same time.
• Kindergarten field trip to Pinehaven on October 14th for Dwyer, Timonen, and Busch.
• October 16-18th no school for K-12 students
• This week has been safety week and the school has had lockdown and fire drills
• Mr. Johnson presented information on report card changes that were made
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Minutes from the May meeting were submitted, reviewed, and passed. Tiffany Cich made the motion to pass and Kari Gislason seconded.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
• $23, 381 was raised at the Family fun night
• Purchased 32 new Macbook Air computers
• Will be taking money out of teacher grants and putting it into reserves- new balance is $1,332. Tiffany Cich made the motion to accept report and Chris Johnson seconded.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES COORDINATOR:
• Volunteers have already helped out at Open house, put together Wednesday folders for Open house, and helped out in the cafeteria the first couple of weeks.
• Still need volunteers for picture day, book fair, and donations for dinner for the teachers during conferences.
• District training for volunteers that will be doing kindergarten data collections
• Turn in criminal background checks if you are volunteering

Campbell Labels: Kim Keller-
Carnival: Tiffany Cich and Nicolle Ristow –Looking for new chairs for next year
Carnival Auction – Carrie Vake – need help
Carnival Kitchen – Carrie Krautkramer-
Fundraiser: Still need- need more prometheon boards for kindergarten classrooms
Holiday Shop: Stacey Anderson/ Jennifer Argeros- last year of the holiday shop
Johnsville t-shirts: Lisa Babineau- coming in the next couple of weeks

SAC – Brandy Doyle- October is the first meeting
Science Fair: Kim Keller-
School Directory – Sign up going home in Wednesday folders if didn’t get the chance to sign up at Open house- need a parent signature
Yearbook: Julie Bryant – Take pictures and send them to your child’s teacher- didn’t have as many pictures as we wanted last year
Old Business:
New Business: Need to update bylaws to get tax exempt status and need new policies- would like to create a committee to do this. Tiffany Cich made a motion to pass and Kari Gislanson seconded.
