April 16, 2013
Purpose of the Organization: The purpose of the organization will be that of promoting a focus upon educational and/or recreational value to the students and school community of Johnsville School. JohnsvillePTO@gmail.com

Attendees: Denise Scholljegerdes, Stacy Anderson, Brandy Doyle, Pam Taylor, Sherry Hamann, Betsy Selstad, Chris Johnson, Kari Gislason, Carrie Vake, and Maren Schultz
Meeting called to order at 6:33p.m.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
• MCA reading test for 3-5th grade April 16-17. MCA math test for 3-5th grade April 22-May 7.
• MAP testing for 3- 5th grade May 8- 23rd.
• April 17 district recognition dinner. Johnsville is recognizing Chuck Gibis- 26 yrs, Lou Knutson- 28 yrs, Jim Scheid- 29 yrs, Melinda McCormick- 29 yrs, and Sandi Hendricks- 41 yrs.
• 1st grade field trip to The Works on April 26. Arboretum field trip on May 20 as well.
• Fine Arts Festival on May 7- book fair, student art work displayed, and 5th grade recorder performances.
• Bus patrols taking field trip to MOA on May 8.
• Sandi Hendricks, Sonja Anderson, and Jim Gerhardt retiring at the end of this year.
• Track and field days: May 10th-5th grade 9:30-12 and 3rd grade 12:30-3. May 13th 2nd grade 12:30-3, May 17th 4th grade 9:30-12 and 1st grade 12:30-3.
• Parent input forms are in the office for next year. You can put down your child’s educational needs, social/emotional needs, classroom climate and other factors that may affect your child’s learning. Due back in office by May 3rd.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Minutes from the May meeting were submitted, reviewed, and passed. Carrie Vake made a motion to accept minutes and Sherry Hamann seconded.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
• Hit goal of $10,000 at Carnival. Stacy Anderson made a motion to accept the report and Jean King seconded.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES COORDINATOR:
• We have volunteers for hall monitoring during MCA testing and hanging artwork for the fine arts festival.
• Still need volunteers for the book fair and track and field.
• 510 yearbooks will be ordered this year.

SAC – Brandy Doyle- There will be a family night in the fall about academic standards moving away from letters and using symbols for grading. Learning habit indicators are: demonstrates organizational skills, works well with others, demonstrates on task behavior, makes responsible choices, and completes work. The symbols used would be: + for consistently, +/- for sometimes, and – for rarely

Old Business:
New Business: Could be getting technology money next year and talked about getting new computers/laptops/ipads. Talked about sending out a short survey to teachers about what kind of technology they need. Work will be done on the parking lot this summer- the island will stay where the sign is now, we won’t be getting an electronic sign, and the basketball hoops will be put back up. Also talked about having a family fun night next fall and what activities to have.
