2012-13 District Career Development Conference 
 
On Sunday and Monday, members of Coon Rapids DECA competed at the District 4 Career Development Conference in Plymouth.  Among the 59 members that attended, there were 27 students qualified for state in at least two events!  Some of the highlights at the conference included and 71 top ten finishes and 21 top three finishers for Coon Rapids High School.  A special congratulation goes out to Stefani Weimholt, Katie Kiecker, Elise Weimholt, and Juan Suarez who each qualified for state in 3 events.

On March 3, 4, and 5 at the DECA State Career Development Conference in Minneapolis, Coon Rapids DECA had an excellent showing. Some of the highlights of the State DECA Conference included a 8th place finish for Bryce McManus in Marketing Management and Katie Kiecker in Professional Selling; A 7th place finish for Elise and Stefani Weimholt in Buying and Merchandising; a 6th place finish for Elise Weimholt in Soft Lines sales: a 5th place finish for Elsie Weimholt, Dani Sarette, and Dani Frazee in Adverting Campaign: a 4th place Finish for Stefani Weimholt in Advanced level Interview; a 4th place for Danny Polaschek and Stefani Weimolt in Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan; a 2nd place finish for Danny Polaschek and Laurel Denney in Hospitality Services; a 2nd place finish for Kate Socha in professional sales; Overall, Coon Rapids DECA had 22 state finalists in their individual or team events.
Two other highlights of the conference were when Juan Suarez and Stefani Weimholt were named Coon Rapids High School’s Outstanding DECA Members of the Year.

 In addition to all the top finishes, recognitions, and awards Danny Polaschek, Laurel Denney, Kate Socha and the Gold Chapter Project team of Isaac Rauch, Danny Polaschek, and Gina Palmquist all qualified to compete this spring at the International Career Development Competition in Anaheim, California.  At this conference they will be competing with over 16,000 other marketing competitors from around the world in an extremely competitive international field.

Coon Rapids sent six DECA members to compete at the International DECA Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California.  This competition had over 16,000 DECA members from around the world in attendance.  Danny Polaschek, Gina Palmquist, Laurel Denney, Stefani Weimholt, Isaac Rauch, and Kate Socha all did a fantastic job at the conference.  Some highlights of the competition were when Kate Socha placed top ten in the world with her Professional Selling exam score. Kate then followed that up by finalizing and placing sixth in the world for her Professional Selling event.  This is the second year in a row that Coon Rapids High School has had a student place in the top ten in Professional Selling!  Great Job Kate!  Mr. Bodenburg would like to congratulate Danny, Gina, Laurel, Stefani, Isaac, and Kate for their efforts at the conference, and congratulate every DECA member for a wonderful year of competition.   Good Job DECA!
