Grading Requirements:

Term grades will be determined as a percentage of class points earned, according to the following scale:

A: 90% or above

B: 80% or above

C: 70% or above

NP: Less than 70%

Points are earned by passing learning targets on the end-of-unit test.  On the end-of-unit test, students will receive four points for each learning target they pass, and zero points for each they do not.  Students have the opportunity to re-test on individual learning targets to increase their point total if they have completed the classwork for that learning target.

Make-up Work

All make-up work power point presentations, notes, and activities will be available on Google classroom with class code itmu9vd.  All worksheets and hand-outs will be available to students in a three-ring binder under the classroom clock.  Assignments will be organized by learning target, and students are expected to help themselves to what they need.  All make up work must be completed by the end of the trimester to receive credit.  All make-up work will be done on the student’s own time and will not interfere with their participation in science class.

Classroom Conduct

Students are expected to use class time for chemistry work.   Daily assignments are designed to align with each learning target and prepare students for the test, and need to be completed to be successful in the course.  Daily work needs to be completed, tidy, and kept in the provided chemistry class binder.  Work must be turned in to the teacher for correction as directed.  Work that is returned to the student should be kept in the class binder.  No student work should ever be thrown away before the end of the trimester!!

Academic Dishonesty

Students are expected to do their own work.  Copied or plagiarized work will earn no credit.

Classroom Expectations:

There are five classroom expectations that will be upheld in addition to the Regional school policies:

  1. Students will be quiet and attentive while the teacher is talking.
  2. Students will maintain a neutral or positive attitude during class.
  3. Students will provide themselves with a writing utensil every day.
  4. Electronic devices will not be used during class.
  5. No objects will be thrown through the air at anytime.
