Kindergarten assessments

Data is collected throughout the year and results are shared with parents as needed, by the classroom teacher.

This test is administered to English learners in order to measure progress toward meeting Minnesota’s standards for English language development. This assessment measures students' social and academic language related to listening, speaking, reading and writing in kindergarten through grade 12.

This test is administered in February-March to kindergarten through 12th grade students identified as English learners.

Developmental reading assessment (DRA)

The Developmental reading assessment (DRA) is used to assess students' reading abilities. DRA requires a one-on-one testing procedure, where a teacher sits with one student at a time and administers the test in an interview format to obtain reliable results.

This test is administered in the Fall, Winter and Spring.

This assessment is part of the Formative Assessment System for Teachers (FAST) created by the University of Minnesota. The earlyReading assessment is an evidence-based progress monitoring assessment for screening and monitoring student learning in the early primary grades in reading. This assessment screening tool includes 12 optional tests to analyze skills that span concepts of print, letter sounds/names, phonological awareness, blending/segmenting, decoding sight words, and sentence reading.
These tests are administered 4 times during the year. Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter, and Spring.
