Achieving academic proficiency
The goal of state and federal programs is to provide additional support to specifically identified students in reading and mathematics, in order to help them to achieve academic proficiency at their grade level.
With the support of teachers or paraeducators, students increase success by receiving additional time to focus on reading and/or math strategies that support district curriculum. A highly qualified teacher or paraeducator may give assistance individually or in a small group, in the regular classroom or in a separate area.
Scientifically based educational research and best practices provide the instructional framework used to support children who are struggling academically.
