Welcome to Rum River Elementary

  • school

Rum River Elementary School opened in the fall of 2001 and is located in northern Andover, Minnesota. Our school attendance area extends to portions of Andover and Ham Lake. We also have many families joining from other areas as well via the open enrollment and in-district transfer options.

Rum River’s goal is to provide excellent learning experiences for each individual student. We do this by creating a safe learning environment, teaching from a rigorous curriculum, providing unique opportunities outside the classroom, and most importantly, involving parents in all aspects of their child’s education and in our school community.

We believe all students and staff are responsible for creating a safe and respectful learning environment. To help students understand this important responsibility, we have a focus in our school aimed to eliminate negative and bullying behavior. We teach students that there is “No Middle Line” when it comes to these types of behaviors. Students are taught the skills and procedures to use when they encounter such situations. We have special T-shirts we wear every other Friday to keep the message going throughout the school year!

Learn more about curriculum and teaching/learning at each grade level - specifically academic standards, report cards and ways you can support your child’s learning at home. Rum River’s state assessment results are excellent, performing well above state averages. Explore Rum River’s achievement results

Rum River is fortunate to have high levels of parent involvement! Our parent organization RAFT (Rum River Association of Parents and Teachers) meets every other month on Tuesday evenings. RAFT supports our schools by organizing fundraising, planning fun family events, and purchasing items to enhance student learning. Check out RAFT's webpage

Volunteering is another great way to get involved at Rum River! Visit our volunteer volunteer webpage.
