Community Education
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education reaches more than half a million people every year - through classes, services, tours, programs, outreach activities and athletics. Community Education is provided by the Anoka-Hennepin School District as an efficient and effective way to offer residents of all ages the opportunity for lifelong learning.
Early learners: Raising children is both a joy and a challenge. Babies do not come with instruction manuals, and questions often arise about the best ways to nurture and care for children as they grow from infants and toddlers, to preparing to board the school bus on the first day of kindergarten and beyond. Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers a wide range of classes, programs, and services to meet your changing needs and interests, in addition to learning and enrichment opportunities for early learners from birth to third grade.
Youth: Community Education plays a critical role in helping young children grow from children to teens. Youth-focused programs and services provide more than just education or entertainment - they contribute to a safe and healthy community by providing young people with engaging activities that help them grow into productive citizens.
Adults: People don't stop wanting to learn just because they graduate from high school or college. Community Education offers hundreds of activities and classes for adults and adults with special needs ages 18 to 100, in addition to programs for people who want to gain workplace skills; complete basic reading, writing and math classes; earn a high school diploma or GED; or focus on learning the English language.
Community: The Anoka-Hennepin School District serves all or part of 13 different cities, each with its own unique needs and characteristics. Community Education maximizes taxpayer investments in K-12 education by extending learning opportunities for residents of all ages, and by using school facilities year-round. Whether it's providing non-profit organizations, clubs and groups with access to school facilities or supporting our schools and communities by coordinating the time, energy and talents of volunteers - Community Education strives to offer each community the services it needs to stay healthy and connected.
