Anoka-Hennepin’s schools partner with local fire departments for Fire Prevention Week lessons
(10/11/19) Fire Prevention Week runs from Oct. 6 through Oct. 12, and most of Anoka-Hennepin’s elementary schools have partnered with local fire departments to offer opportunities for firefighters to discuss fire safety with students.
This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week is, “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape!” The Coon Rapids Fire Department visited with students at Hamilton Elementary School on Oct. 8. Firefighters encouraged students to know their family’s plan in the event of a fire, while also teaching about smoke detectors, how to stop, drop and roll, and more. View photos.
Kindergarten and first grade students were treated to the always popular puppet show and remote control fire truck.
Local fire departments will hold open houses on Oct. 12 to cap-off Fire Prevention Week.
Anoka-Hennepin is proud of its partnerships with local police and fire departments, and works hard to create safe, and welcoming learning environments for all of its students.
