Fifth grade ambassadors at the school are gaining leadership and mentorship opportunities by helping the DCD students to their buses at the end of the day. The bowling trip was a celebration of a successful first trimester. View photos from the field trip.

“The energy and excitement from our fifth grade ambassadors was infectious, and the support and friendship they offered to our students in the DCD program was special,” said Sand Creek principal Paul Anderson.

DCD teachers, paras, speech and language teachers, a physical therapist, physical education and Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE) teachers, Anderson, and a special education (SPED) supervisor all went on the field trip, which was fun and rewarding for all in attendance.

One staff member commented, “The [trip was the] highlight of our year so far, this warms my heart. Our ambassadors are doing such a great job of connecting with and engaging our students in this experience.”

Emmy Bouvier, a new SPED lead, planned the event and called it a huge success and a new favorite tradition. Modifications and adaptations were made, when needed, to provide access for all students.
