District Committees

Anoka-Hennepin Schools realize the importance of parent involvement and engagement in maximizing student achievement. The district values parent involvement in education, based on the belief that parents are their children's most important teachers. Anoka-Hennepin invites parents/guardians to participate in district committees as a meaningful way to get involved with the district. These groups shape how the district prepares students for life and often make official recommendations to the School Board. Please see below for district committees that elevate parent/guardian voices in Anoka-Hennepin.

Adventures Plus Advisory Council
The Adventures Plus (A+) Advisory Council is made up of a representative from each A+ site location. The council allows families the opportunity to offer input into the programming offered. Representatives have a chance to hear some of the “behind the scenes” information about Adventures Plus and offer the program valuable feedback and ideas.
The council meets three times per year at the Education Services Center (ESC) building in Anoka from 6:30-8 p.m. Visit the Community Education website for more information about this committee.

Community Education Advisory Council
The community education department encourages involvement. The department coordinates a general advisory council helping shape all programs in the department and welcomes feedback around issues facing specific programs.
The Community Education Advisory Council meets four times during the school year. At each meeting, members share news and happenings from their areas of the community and hear new ideas to consider implementing to improve and advance our programming and how we serve the community. Community Curriculum Advisory Committee (CCAC)
The Community Curriculum Advisory Committee (CCAC) reviews PreK-16 curriculum, assessment and instructional programming through a community lens and provides information to and requests feedback from Parent Teacher Organizations, partnership teams and Parent Advisory Committees in each building regarding curriculum, assessment and instructional programming. The CCAC also serves as the working group for the World's Best Workforce Committee.
This committee consists of PreK family and parent representatives, one family or parent per elementary and secondary school and alternative programs family or parent representatives, five community members, one per school cluster, and meets once per month during the school year.

ECFE/Preschool Parent Advisory Council
The Anoka-Hennepin Early Childhood Family Education Parent Advisory Council (PAC) provides input and support to the ECFE and the Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool programs.
Attending Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meetings is a great way to learn more about school district programs and make personal connections with other families. Meetings are typically held on the second Monday of each month during the school year from 6:30-8 p.m. For more information on this committee, visit the Community Education website.

American Indian Education Committees
There are two Parent Committees connected with our Anoka-Hennepin American Indian Education Program.
The American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) is a committee composed of parents or guardians of American Indian students, school district representatives, and secondary American Indian students. The AIPAC advises the district on aspects related to supporting and working with American Indian students and families. They also provide feedback and advice regarding aspects of the American Indian Education Program.
The Johnson O’Malley Parent Committee (JOM) works specifically with the JOM Grant. This committee is composed of parents or guardians of JOM certified American Indian students participating in the American Indian Education Program. The JOM Parent Committee serves as a governing body and oversees all aspects of and approves all expenditures of the JOM Grant.

Parent Advisory Committee for Racial and Ethnic Equity (PACREE)
The parent-led Parent Advisory Committee for Racial and Ethnic Equity (PACREE) helps create racial and ethnic equity in the Anoka-Hennepin School District by creating successful students with a sense of belonging. This committee empowers parents from racially and ethnically underserved communities to advocate for their students.

Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC)
The intent of the Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) is to provide tools and resources to help guardians of children receiving special education services and collaborate with the district in order to promote continuous growth of special education services to best meet the needs of students. Members serve as a representative of district learners with disabilities from birth through age 22. SEAC strives to promote, educate and share resources between families, schools, and communities.
The council is a partnership between parents/guardians and the school district and meets four times (three in person and one virtual) during the school year. If you would like the link to be a member of this committee or attend the meetings as a visitor, please contact Mary Esch at 763-506-1362.

Student Services Advisory Committee (SSAC)
The Student Services Advisory Committee (SSAC) is a group of students, parents, teachers, school administrators and specialists charged with advising the district regarding how best to provide equitable educational opportunities for all students. SSAC works to address and close persistent gaps in student achievement, including academic performance and graduation rates. The SSAC meets three times per year to review the Achievement and Integration plan and the district's Equity Achievement Plan in alignment with the district's strategic priorities.

Faith Community Partnership Steering Committee
The Faith Community Partnership (FCP) is a collaborative effort of the Anoka-Hennepin School District and faith-based organizations, connecting schools and communities to mobilize people to meet the needs of students.
The FCP steering committee meets three times per school year and connects faith and community partners with schools and sites to meet the ever-changing needs of students and staff.
