January 15, 2013
Purpose of the Organization: The purpose of the organization will be that of promoting a focus upon educational and/or recreational value to the students and school community of Johnsville School. JohnsvillePTO@gmail.com

STAFF PRESENT: Susan Eschbach, Jean King
Attendees: Brandy Doyle, Chris Johnson, Kari Gislason, Stacy Anderson, Betsy Selstad, Pam Taylor, Tiffany Cich, Nicolle Ristow, Carrie Vake, and Maren Schultz
Meeting called to order at 6:45p.m.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
• Will be meeting Jim Gerhardt and Tom Redmann from building and Grounds to discuss the parking lot, traffic flow, and marquee.
• Community meeting set for February 6 from 6-7:30pm at the Staff Development Center for information about rumors and threats that involve the school district.
• 2nd -4th grade students taking winter MAPs the week of January 28th. 3rd -5th grade students taking the OLPA (Optional Local Purpose Assessments) weeks of February 4th and 11th.
• Staff development in the morning at various district locations and parent/ teacher conferences will be in the afternoon on February 19th- no school for students.
• No school January 21- MLK day. February 18th Presidents day- no school.
• 5th graders going to Afton Alps on February 27th for skiing trip.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Minutes from the November meeting were submitted, reviewed, and change made to minutes. Correction in SAC- Parents can order classroom treats through the district now if they’d like.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
• $ 2, 203 made from boxtops
• Y-tie sales made $1, 600. $300 went to Mr. Spanjer and the rest went to Caring Bridge
• Tiffany Cich moved to accept report and Jean King seconded.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES COORDINATOR:
• Over 100 children participated in the science fair
• Need volunteers for data collection in February
• Volunteers needed to help with dinner for teachers during conferences
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
General Mills: Sherry Hamann-
Campbell Labels: Kim Keller-
Carnival: Tiffany Cich and Nicolle Ristow – Carnival will be March 22 from 5:30-8pm. Every room filled with games this year, already bought new games, toys are ordered, and will be doing pre-sale tickets again. Big Dipper would like to be added to carnival.
Carnival Auction – Carrie Vake – letter drafted to send out to parents for classroom baskets
Carnival Kitchen – Carrie Krautkramer- working with vendors
Fundraiser: Still need- February 1- 13th dates of fundraiser. February 28 pizza’s delivered. Pizza orders will need to be organized once they are delivered and put into bags. March 7 prizes will be given out. Classes judged on average # of pizza’s sold per class.
Holiday Shop: Stacey Anderson/ Jennifer Argeros-
Johnsville t-shirts: Lisa Babineau- T-shirts and water bottles still left
PTO Facebook page – Brandy Doyle
SAC – Brandy Doyle- MCA’s passed around. Reading scores higher than state scores for all grades. Math scores higher than state scores in elementary and lower than state scores in middle/high school students. New change to science curriculum for class of 2015. Freshman students can choose from physical science, physical science honors, or physics honors. Sophmores choose from chemistry or chemistry honors. Juniors choose from biology or college biology.

Yearbook: Julie Bryant – Keep getting pictures in.
Old Business:
New Business: Isaac (Blaine high school intern that volunteers at our school) his mother passed away. PTO will be giving him a $350 Target card and $150 gas card. Tiffany Cich made a motion to move and Betsy Selstad seconded.
Carolyn added to staff as new secretary.
