When can my student start at Roosevelt?Once the registration materials are returned to school, we will request records from your child's previous school. Enrollment and records requests will take several days to complete before your child will be able to start school. Usually your child can start within 2-4 days after receipt of the registration paperwork.
A short orientation with the school counselor will be required if your student is not starting at the beginning at the academic year. This orientation will review policies and procedures at Roosevelt, provide a tour of the building and answer any questions you may have about starting with us. What classes will my child have?Your child will be placed in core classes (Math, Reading/English, and Science) according to classes your student is currently taking, previous standardized test scores, grades, and teacher recommendation. We may request additional testing (approximately an hour and a half) over the summer or prior to your student's start day for math and reading, if additional information is needed for placement purposes.

What about transportation?
You may call transportation at 763-506-1125 to find out bussing information. They will be able to provide a bus number for your address and pick-up and drop off times and locations.
How does Roosevelt help my student adjust to the new environment?
On the first day your child attends Roosevelt he/she will be paired with a student ambassador to assist them with their transition to RMS. The ambassador will give a school tour and will be in charge of picking up and dropping off your child at all classes. They will also make sure they have somewhere to sit at lunch, know how to use their pin number, know how to open their locker, and help answer questions throughout the day.
If your child will be starting at the beginning of the school year, a new student orientation will be provided two weeks before school starts and your child will be invited to participate in a new student group. Information will be sent home regarding both of these activities.
I don't currently live in the attendance area, can I still register my child?
You will need proof of a valid and current address in our attendance area to register your child. You may apply for open enrollment or an in-district transfer before January 15 for the following academic year. The district determines accepted students during the month of February and you will be notified.
