• Welcome to Compass Social Studies!

    Lindsey Letcher-Mechem

I have worked with Compass Programs since the 2011-12 school year and have thoroughly enjoyed working with our students.  I appreciate being able to teach a wide variety of classes for both the Teen Pregnancy Program and Homebound Services and like coming to “work” each day.  My favorite part of teaching is the “Ah ha!” moment students have when they understand and connect concepts.  Prior to working with Compass Programs, I worked at Anoka-Hennepin Regional High School, when it was called Crossroads, Anoka High School, McGovern Elementary School (Oregon), and John Apangalook High School (Alaska).  I have tried to learn from each year of teaching so I can continue to grow as a person and professional.

After graduating from Anoka High School in 2002 (Go Tornadoes!), I attended the University of Northern Iowa for a Bachelor’s in History Education and later went on to earn my Master’s in Special Education from St. Cloud State University. Most of my post-graduate level work has been through the University of North Dakota. Sometimes I think I could be a forever college student.  :)

Thank you for supporting your student's education! I am excited to work with your child and watch their growth. Together we can help your child achieve success!
