(04/04/2024) At a ceremony held April 3, 15 outstanding district employees were honored as Anoka-Hennepin School District’s 2023-24 Above & Beyond Award recipients.

- Cory Davis, Champlin Park High School, physical education teacher and coach.
- Lori De Jong, Lincoln Elementary, school office supervisor.
- Amanda Eilertson, Champlin Park High School, academic intervention teacher.
- Sheila Joslin, Oxbow Creek Elementary, school office supervisor.
- Mindy Meyers, Waapishki Kiisis Ikwe, Educational Service Center, American Indian Education Program Coordinator.
- Bich Lieu Nguyen, Educational Service Center, technology, instructional technology facilitator.
- Corinna Nunnery, Oxbow Creek Elementary, Adventures Plus, site coordinator.
- Ray Richardson, Educational Service Center, buildings and grounds, maintenance manager.
- Denise Schnabel, Evergreen Park Elementary, principal.
- Hannah Schrempp, Oak View Middle School, secondary reading teacher.
- Julia Stock, Brookside Elementary, teacher, grade 2.
- Penny Walsh, Riverview Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), parent and family educator.

The 2024 Above & Beyond Awards ceremony was held at the Educational Service Center (ESC) in Anoka and was attended by 150 people. Watch a replay of the event.
“What an evening of inspiration for our schools,” said Kacy Deschene, Anoka-Hennepin School Board Co-Chair. “Making schools the best they can be is a team effort and you represent the best of the best. You make a difference for our students and our schools and we thank you.”
Anoka-Hennepin recognizes nearly 8,000 staff members across the district do amazing work each day in supporting the students, schools and communities. This year, more than 150 nominations were submitted for the 2024 awards, the 27th year of a recognition program in the school district’s history.
The Above & Beyond Awards involve students, staff, parents and community members in recognizing and rewarding Anoka-Hennepin employees who consistently go that extra mile so students can be successful.
The Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation (AHEF) and Anoka-Hennepin Schools sponsor the Above & Beyond Awards program jointly. Its mission is to recognize outstanding employees for innovation, creativity, caring and commitment. Award recipients were nominated by parents, students and colleagues, and were selected by a panel of community representatives, staff and principals.
Award criteria considered included going the extra mile or exceeding expectations in job duties; making an extra effort to support students’ learning and well-being; developing positive relationships with students, families, and/or community; demonstrating exceptional care and concern for students; developing new ideas to enhance learning, solve problems and/or meet district needs; bringing together ideas and/or resources and/or people to overcome difficulties or challenges; inspiring others to do and be their best; collaborating with outside resources; and working effectively with people of different races, religions, values, attitudes, experiences and customs.
