About our School
-
In 2019 Hoover School became an official STEM school in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. We are known as Hoover Elementary - Biomedical, Health Sciences and Engineering.
Hoover was built in 1966. At that time the total enrollment for the district was 21,771 students. In 1966 Hoover had a capacity of 750 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The building area was 52,900 square feet and cost $835,796 to build. We enjoy two small courtyards where students can view the change of Minnesota’s seasons.
Building improvements have been made throughout the years to keep up with technology and maintenance. During the 2001/02 school year an addition increased the square footage to 56,215.
During the 2018-2019 school year, Hoover was home to approximately 480 students in prekindergarten through fifth grade and overall district attendance was over 38,000 students K–12. We continue to offer Art, Music, Phy Ed, Media, Inquiry, Computer and many specialized programs to meet individual students’ needs. Our maintenance staff continues to strive to keep the building looking as new as the day it was built!
