Ashley Akwa is the School Social Worker at Evergreen Park World Cultures Community School. Her main role is to help students, parents and teachers identify and prevent problems for the student in the school setting.
Mrs. Akwa meets with students in groups or individually during the school day. Students may be referred by teachers, parents, school staff and by the students themselves. Ms. Akwa meets with students for a variety of reasons. Some examples include: friendship difficulties, new student adjustment, self-esteem issues, school refusal/phobia, irregular attendance or tardies, illness or death in the family, divorce or separation, depression, anger, impulsiveness, and anxiety. In addition, she is involved in the school community.Ms. Akwa also works with families in need by providing resources, or helping families through The Den (food and basic needs). She enjoys working with students and families to help children be successful in school. Parents can arrange appointments to discuss issues and concerns related to their children.

Monday through Friday from 8:35 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.Other times may be arranged for parents' convenience.
