• What is Title I programming?

    The purpose of Title I programming is to provide supplemental academic interventions that will help students become proficient in grade level reading and math curriculum. There is a consistent correlation between the strategies your child sees in the classroom and the interventions and strategies supplemental support teachers use to help students fill in gaps in their learning as they accelerate their learning to grade level proficiency.
     
    Communication is the key, and we encourage your questions as you visit with your child's classroom and supplemental programs teacher.
     

    Federally funded program

    Title I is a federally funded program, part of Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015. The purpose of this legislation to provide opportunities for children to acquire the knowledge and skills they will need to achieve proficiency according to Minnesota Academic Standards.
     
    Schools that qualify for this funding are those schools who exceed the district average for free or reduced lunches, however, students with the greatest educational need in reading and/or mathematics are identified by their classroom teacher to receive extra help regardless of family income or free and reduced lunch status.
     
    You may be able to help increase the funding that your school receives. If you believe that your family income may be within the guidelines for the program, you may request an application from your school or from the school district's child nutrition program by calling 763-506-1240.
