2022-23 Above & Beyond Awards recipient: Minh Strusz

Interactive learning experience enhances digestive system curriculum for Hoover second graders
(02/02/2023) The specialty program at Hoover Elementary School - Biomedical, Health Sciences and Engineering focuses on human body systems and the biomedical and technological systems that keep us healthy. In second grade, students become experts in the digestive system and on Jan. 30, those students participated in a unique learning experience.

Proposed boundaries presented at Sept. 15 community meeting
(09/15/2022) Anoka-Hennepin Schools presented proposed attendance area maps and collected community feedback at a community meeting held Sept. 15 at Coon Rapids High School. No attendance boundary changes are proposed for schools in the Coon Rapids cluster.

Anoka-Hennepin names Minh Strusz principal of Hoover Elementary School
(04/07/2022) Strusz is currently serving as Hoover interim principal and has a strong familiarity and history with the Hoover community, having previously served as curriculum integrator at the time the STEM-H biomedical, health sciences and engineering speciality program was developed at the school.

District Indian Education program to co-host powwow on April 1
(03/29/2023) Anoka-Hennepin’s Indian Education program will co-host a powwow with Elk River Area Schools, Fridley Public Schools, Roseville Area Schools and St. Michael-Albertville Schools Indian Education programs on Saturday, April 1 at Champlin Park High School.

Two district high school seniors named U.S. Presidential Scholars candidates
(03/25/2023) Eleanor Fredine, Andover High School; and Adhithya Anandaraj, Blaine High School; are two of approximately 5,000 students recognized nationwide.

Universal School Meals program to begin in the fall of 2023
(03/24/2023) Last week, the Minnesota Legislature approved and the Governor signed a bill providing “Universal School Meals,” which means every student may receive one breakfast and one lunch at no cost starting in the fall of 2023. The program will cover one breakfast and one lunch for every student, however ala carte and other meal choices will not be covered.
