Welcome to Mrs. DeLaForest's Website!
I am so excited to be teaching 6th graders all about math again this year! I teach one section of Pre-Algebra Block (a two period math class) and 3 sections of traditional Pre-Algebra. That is 101 mathematicians in all!
I have been teaching since 1993 in a lot of different places! I started teaching at Fort Knox Community Schools in Kentucky, where my husband was stationed in the U.S. Army. I then came back to Minnesota where I have taught in White Bear Lake until I came to Anoka-Hennepin in 2005. I have taught elementary school for most of those years (grades 3-5), but I have found my true teaching love here at Oak View!
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Concordia College-St. Paul (now Concordia University) and my Master's Degree in Education from the University of Louisville. I am still continuing to learn and love figuring out new things.
I have been married to my husband, Chris, for over 22 years and we have two great sons. Ben is an 9th grader here at Andover High School and Will is in 6th grade here at Oak View. My family and I spend a lot of our free time at hockey, lacrosse, and baseball games-either at our kids' games or watching the Wild and Twins. We also love to travel and discover the world. You may also find me at the mall-just check the shoe section!
Thank you for supporting your student's education. I am excited to work with your child and witness mathematical and social growth. Together we can help your child achieve success!
