• Youth activities and classes

    Anoka-Hennepin Community Education provides fun activities and learning opportunities for children, right in your own backyard. The Community Schools program is dedicated to student success by providing quality programs year-round in safe, accessible environments to enhance the positive growth of youth.

    Programs are available for children ages three to 14 years of age, including:
    • Arts and crafts
    • Athletics, sports and recreation
    • Aquatics, swimming lessons and open swim
    • Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)
    • Language and performing arts
    • Field trips

    Each elementary and middle school in the Anoka-Hennepin School District has a Community Schools office which coordinates a wide variety of courses, clubs, camps and clinics to enhance your child's academic and social experiences while away from school. Families are welcome to enroll in enrichment opportunities offered at their child's school or at any school, districtwide. Activities are offered after-school, in the evening and on the weekend.

  • Family Rollerskating with Minions

    Roll on in for a Thursday night skate and meet minions, Kevin and Stuart, in person! Meet us at Cheap Skate, 3075 Coon Rapids Blvd, Coon Rapids, for a fun-filled evening of rollerskating with a live DJ. Fee includes skate rental ($3 value); blade rental is an additional $2. Transportation to and from Cheap Skate is the responsibility of the parent/guardian. An adult must remain on premises with all children. Note: Because of the normal risk of maintaining balance on skates and the probability of occasional contact between skaters, accidents can occur. By entering Cheap Skate, participants agree to abide by all rules and voluntarily assume the risk of injury when skating.
    Cheap Skate has recently added Bounce Houses! An additional fee and signed waiver will be required for hose who want to bounce during the event.

    Grandmasters of Chess: Presented by Youth Enrichment League

    Challenge yourself and develop thinking strategies with this brilliant and complex game! Beginners will learn piece movement, capturing, check, checkmate, castling and more. Returning students will study intermediate lessons such as King Rook Checkmate and Gaining Opposition, anWe're looking for Scientists to join us in conducting spooky Halloween-themed experiments. You won't want to miss out on these!d should bring chess booklets and dollars to class. Advanced students will study Queen Sacrifices, Back Rank Mates and advanced theory. An in-class tournament will be held the last day.
