Champlin-Brooklyn Park Academy named Magnet Schools of America school of distinction

Magnet Schools of America School of Distinction badge(02/01/2024) Champlin Brooklyn Park Academy for Math and Environmental Science (CBPA) has been named a 2024 Magnet Schools of America (MSA) School of Distinction.

MSA national merit awards are given to magnet schools that demonstrate a commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation and diversity efforts, and strong parent and community involvement. To be considered for a merit award, member schools must submit an application scored by a panel of educators.

MSA is a nonprofit organization that supports and assists magnet schools nationwide and represents approximately 4,300 magnet and theme-based schools nationwide.

Through an integrated curriculum, students at CBPA receive a unique learning experience emphasizing math and environmental science. This is made possible by the school’s on-site nature center, greenhouse and gardens, math lab, and strong community partnerships.

Students at CBPA work closely with naturalists from the Three Rivers Park District as well as educators from the Minnesota Arboretum. Fourth and fifth grade students also participate in the University of Minnesota’s Junior Master Gardener program.
