Adult activities and classes
No matter what your interest or skill level, Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers hundreds of classes year-round during the daytime, evening and weekend for adults ages 18 and up. The Adult Learning program provides activities and classes or adults who want to:
- acquire a new skill,
- explore new interests and hobbies,
- enrich their personal or professional lives,
- improve health and achieving fitness goals,
- strengthen personal and family relationships,
- learn and improving business skills,
- or gain computer and technology proficiency.
Activities and classes are held in schools and local businesses throughout the school district's geographic area. Take a look at just a sampling of the opportunities available.

Online Learning
Through Anoka-Hennepin Community Education, online learning is convenient and affordable! We offer a wide range of highly interactive adult learning courses that you can take entirely over the Internet. All of our courses are led by expert instructors, many of whom are nationally known authors. Our online courses are affordable, fun, fast, convenient, and geared just for you.
Live and local
In response to COVID-19, Anoka-Hennepin Community Education is offering traditional adult enrichment and recreation activities both online or in-person for participants to choose based on comfortability. These online class options are conducted live, via Zoom.Ed2Go
Ed2Go courses are led by expert instructors, many of whom are nationally known authors. Our online courses are affordable, fun, fast, convenient, and geared just for you.Complete any course entirely from your home or office, any time of the day or night. Fee Assistance
Scholarships and fee assistance
Community Education strives to make classes and activities accessible to all participants by offering scholarships and fee assistance to those who qualify.
How to apply
Call the community education office of the program that you would like to participate in. If the class or activity is for a school-age child, please call the Community Schools office that is located in your child's school.
Youth: Families who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may request fee assistance to reduce the cost of Community Education activities and classes. Eligible families will receive a 50 percent discount.
Adults: Contact the adult learning registration line to request assistance and eligibility information.
Early learners: Early Childhood Family Education(ECFE) and Preschool activities, classes and tuition are based on a sliding fee scale.

Policies
Registration
Registrations are on a first-come, first-serve basis and open to adults ages 18 and up unless specified. Pre-registration is required for class participation.
Confirmations
Participants are enrolled in a class upon receipt of registration with payment and will be notified if a class is filled or cancelled. Confirmations are provided via email if email address is provided with registration.
Wait list
When a class is filled, participants may be placed on a wait list. If an opening becomes available, participants on the wait list will be contacted by Adult Learning staff.
Refunds
Requests with five-business days notice from the class start date may qualify for a partial refund (cash, credit or coupon) less $10 per class. Refund requests received with less than five-business days notice from the class start date are not eligible for a refund.
Fee assistance
Limited fee assistance is available for qualified participants. For information call 763-506-1260.
School district cancellations
Adult activities and classes will not meet when Anoka-Hennepin Schools are closed due to inclement weather. Check the school district or the community education website for cancellation notices.
Accessibility
Community Education welcomes participants of all abilities. Reasonable accommodations are available with a minimum of a 72-hour notice. To request an accommodation, please write your accommodation needs on the registration form and mail with your payment. If registering online and accommodations are needed, please call 763-506-1290 or email info@discovercommunityed.com. This catalog can be provided in alternate formats with 3-business days notice.
Satisfaction guarantee
Please call Anoka-Hennepin Community Education if you are not satisfied with a class that you have attended.
