Talk to the college you plan to attend — their Financial Aid Office will be a valuable resource to you.
You must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to apply for financial aid. This should be filled out online sometime after Oct. 1 and before the end of January at the FAFSA website.
Most schools also require the Minnesota supplement and/or institution form. To determine which form(s) you must file, contact the Financial Aid Office at the college to which you are applying.
After you have completed the FAFSA, each school will send your an award letter. It's important to note that each school will offer a different financial aid package and their award letter will be unique to their insitutation.
Understanding your award letter can be a confusing process. This link can be a great resource: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tgDZFTf7pINzLelmWoUzBJCLIkEnesLx/view?usp=sharing
