    Anoka-Hennepin Community Education coordinates swimming lessons, recreational open swim, water exercise programs for adults, competitive swim training, American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid certification courses, and recreational open swim opportunities at Roosevelt Community Pool in Blaine. We are always looking for candidates to "dive" into a variety of positions supporting our pools and the water safety programs that we offer.
     
    These jobs and career pathways are often appealing to high school and college students looking for extra cash or considering a career in teaching, current school staff looking to pick up extra hours or retirees interested in a job that makes a positive impact in our community and in people's lives.

    Many positions require American Red Cross certifications in lifeguard training, water safety instruction, CPR or First Aid. Not certified but still interested? Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers aquatic certification opportunities year-round, and may offer training assistance to candidates upon a job offer.     Current open positions:

    Aquatics - Pool Shift Supervisors
    Part-Time -  up to 10 hours/week - September through May. Saturdays 8:30 am - 4:00 pm; Sunday evenings  3:30 pm - 4:00 pm; Possible additional hours due to rentals, Must be avaialbe a munimum of two weekends per month. Location:  Roosevelt Middle Duties:  Responsible for opening and closing facility.  Manage admission and registration. Assist with observation and evaluation of swim instructors and lifeguards.  Attend and co-lead monthly staff inservice training. Communicate regularly with Aquatics Supervisor regarding pool/lesson issues.  Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Experience supervising and training staff.  Experience in teaching swim lessons, lifeguarding, and swim coaching (all or some combination of experience).  Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills. Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate in Lifeguarding or the ability to acquire certification in the first six months of hire.  Ability to work with large groups of people.  Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.  Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions. Must be physically working in the building. Rate of Pay:  $17.00/hour and up, DOQ. Start Date:  Fall 2022 Additional info:  763-506-5975.

    Water Safety Instructors
    Part-Time - Casual hours as needed. Duties:  Responsible for teaching American Red Cross Learn to Swim Lessons.  Evaluate participants' experience level.  Maintenance of participant records.  Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:  Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate or the ability to acquire certification in the first six months of hire.  Experience and/or knowledge in the instruction of swimming at all levels of aquatic ability. Ability to work with large groups of people. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.  Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions. Must be physically working in the building/site. Rate of Pay:  $16.00/hour. Additional info:  763-506-5975.

    Lifeguards
    Part-Time - Casual hrs as needed. Duties:  Responsible for implementing American Red Cross "Lifeguarding Today", preventative lifeguarding and equipment based rescues and post rescue care. Minimum Qualifications: Current American Red Cross Certificates in Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. Ability to work with large groups of people. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.
