children on playgroundDuring the summer months, Adventures Plus provides additional care opportunities for elementary school students. The summer program serves students entering kindergarten up to those entering sixth grade. Students must be enrolled in an Anoka-Hennepin school for the fall in order to receive summer care.

The goal of the Adventures Plus program is to support the development of the whole child by providing age-appropriate learning experiences and opportunities.

    Summer curriculum

The Adventures Plus summer program focuses on youth engagement, with curriculum centered around creativity and the arts, language and literacy, cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. Children may choose to participate in interest-based activities such as visual and performing arts, reading and writing, math and science, physical games, outdoor play as well as team building and problem-solving.  Programming for incoming kindergarten students emphasizes social skill development and supports kindergarten readiness skills, such as letter and number recognition, basic concepts of print, oral language, reading comprehension skills, group participation and social interaction.
