Parent Involvement to host free event for PTO and booster club members: Board Transitions
(4/12/19) The Anoka-Hennepin Schools Parent Involvement program will offer a free event for Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and booster club members, "Board Transitions." The event is scheduled Tuesday, Apr. 23 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Anoka-Hennepin Schools Educational Service Center (2727 N. Ferry Street, Anoka).
The event will be led by Liz Burgard, coordinator of the Anoka-Hennepin Schools Parent Involvement program and Tammy Schmitz, who has held officer positions in non-profit organizations, served on the Columbia Heights school board, and has provided technical assistance and training the PTOs and booster clubs in management of non-profit organizations as a Parent Involvement Specialist for Anoka-Hennepin Schools.
The session will help attendees learn more about:
- transitioning your board with new members.
- on-boarding new members and their roles.
- planning ahead to maximize effectiveness.
- wrapping up the year and/or season.
Time will be set aside for questions and networking with other PTOs and booster clubs.
"After hosting other workshops and informational sessions to support our PTO and booster clubs over the past few years, we received feedback that local groups and community members wanted resources to dive deeper into this topic," explained Burgard. The Parent Involvement program works to promote and connect school district partnerships between families, schools and community members/organizations.
