No strings attached! New Community Ed class is all percussion.

Junk band class(6/6/22) Drum roll….. please. A new Community Education youth class allows students to make as much noise as they want with no repercussions.

This spring, participants in the Junk Band class met twice a week after school to practice their rhythm skills and hammer out some tunes. Students first created percussion instruments from recycled materials and then learned rhythm patterns and songs that they  performed on those instruments. They even did a mini-concert for their families after their last session.

The class at Franklin Elementary in Anoka started out small, but instructors think it will grow as more students find out about the opportunity to bang on the drums all afternoon. The plan is to offer the class again in the fall.
