Join our team in Community Education; start your career in school-age child care
(11/05/2024) Anoka-Hennepin Community Education’s Adventures Plus school-age before and after-school care program is offered to all families enrolled in the school district.
Adventures Plus is dedicated to quality development and engagement of children and youth in partnership with families, schools, and communities. Caring and qualified staff provide a high-quality experience for each child.
Hear from Child Care Assistant Wanda Jackson about what she loves most about her role in Anoka-Hennepin:
What do you love most about your job?
“I love coming to work and seeing the students, knowing that we have built a welcoming and inviting site. Seeing the children eager to come into the program and watching the families comfortable with the knowledge that we will care for their children as if they were our own fills me with joy.”
What is your ‘why’ for what you do?
“My biggest ‘why’ is to give all children a voice, what I mean is growing up in a time where children's feelings were not considered pushes me to work with them on articulating their needs and giving them a safe environment to express their emotions.”
What advice would you give to someone interested in joining you in working with Adventures Plus?
“Come with an open mind, open heart, and patience, and be ready to be silly. A lot of times we can get caught up in being the adult we forget to let the kid in us out.”
