Adventures Plus school-age care
Adventures Plus is the Anoka-Hennepin School District's school-age care program, offered to all families enrolled in the school district and provided at each elementary school. Care is available before- and after-school, and on non-school days which include winter, spring and summer breaks.

Summer 2022 and the 2022-23 School Year Registration
Current A+ families may register for both seasons starting March 1.
New families may register for both seasons beginning March 21. (Contracts received before March 21 will be removed and families will need to re-register after March 21.)
Summer 2022 registration ends on May 20 at 8 pm.Registrations will be reviewed in the order that they were received by our online system, and could take up to 5 business days to process.
In order for a registration to be processed, all Community Education program balances must be paid in full. Accounts with a balance overdue will not be processed.Register online: Adventures Plus summer, and before- and after-school care.

About Adventures Plus
Mission: Adventures Plus is dedicated to quality development and engagement of children and youth in partnership with families, schools, and communities. The Adventures Plus program aims to develop the whole child by providing age-appropriate learning experiences and opportunities using a theme-based curriculum with activities that include:- Arts and crafts
- Music, movement and drama
- Language, literature and writing
- Sports and outdoor play
- Science, cooking and math
- Personal and social development
- Small- and large-group activities

Parent/guardian fees fund the Adventures Plus school age child care program, which is coordinated by the Anoka-Hennepin Community Education department. -
Registration
Adventures Plus is currently accepting registrations for the current 2021-22 school year - some sites have waitlists. Please register a contract to be placed on the wait list.
Current families may register for Summer 2022 and the 2022-23 school year starting March 1.
New families may register for Summer and the 2022-23 school year programming beginning March 21.
Summer 2022 registration ends on May 20 at 8 pm. -
How to enroll
Adventures Plus is a popular service and child care openings fill quickly. Pre-registration for the school year and summer programs occurs online each March. The program accepts registrations throughout the year and children may be enrolled as openings become available.
A two-week notice may be required before your child attends the program. The safety of your child is important to our staff, please provide at least two emergency contact persons. It is extremely important to keep your information up-to-date. If you change your job, move or change your telephone number, please update your online account information.

School-year rates

Adventures Plus school-age care requires a non-refundable registration fee of $30 per child, added to your initial invoice (or charged at the time of withdrawal prior to the program start date.)
Before-school care: (6:30 a.m. to school start time)- Part-time (4 days or less each week): $12.50 per day/per child.
- Full-time (5 days each week): $10 per day/per child.
After-school care: (School dismissal time to 6 p.m.)
- Part-time (4 days or less each week): $10.60 per day/per child.
- Full time (5 days each week): $8.75 per day/per child.
A $10 finders fee will be assessed to accounts if a child's PM absence is not communicated with A+ staff as this results in a search process that takes staff away from the care of children.
All rates are subject to change. Schedule changes require one week notice and $25 fee per contract. No credit given for absences. -
Non-school day rates
Adventures Plus offers school-age care on days that school is not in session for families from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Non-school day rates are based on when your child's registration is received.
​**Non-school day registration for the 2022-23 school year will open on September 1 at 8 am for all families with an approved Adventures Plus contract. **- Option one (priority registration): $43/per child/per day.
Submit your child's registration by the 15th of the month prior. - Guaranteed care on each day selected.
- Non-school day rates will be added to your family's monthly billing invoice.
- Your family will receive a discounted rate.
- Option two (late registration): $53 per child/per day. Submit your child's registration after the 15th of the month prior.
- Registrations are approved if space is available.
- Your family will be charged a premium rate.
- Option one (priority registration): $43/per child/per day.

Summer rates
Summer rates include breakfast, lunch, snack, field trips/events included in the program. Adventures Plus school-age care requires a non-refundable registration fee of $30 per child, added to your initial invoice (or charged at the time of withdrawal prior to the program start date.)
Part-time rate: $47 per day/per child.
(15-35 days)Full-time rate: $40 per day/per child.
(36-51 days)
All rates are subject to change. Schedule changes may not be made after May 20. No credit given for absences. -

Financial assistance may be available to qualifying families through the Child Care Assistance Program.

Fees
Families are charged fees based upon their child care agreement, not actual attendance. This includes when the child is not in attendance due to illness, personal reasons and inclement weather. The family is responsible for all charges that are incurred, as well as all fees outlined in the parent handbook. A family registration fee is required each season (summer and school year).

Payment
Payment is due on the first of each month, for the current month. Late payments will result in a $25 late fee being added to the account. Failure to pay will result in termination from the Adventures Plus child care program. Auto pay can be set up by account owner in your online Eleyo account. Manual payments can also be paid online through your Eleyo account. To pay by cash or money order, you must pay in person at the central billing office.
When a payment is declined due to non-sufficient funds (NSF), it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to replace the payment in cash, money order, certified check or credit card upon notification. Failure to do so may result in termination of child care services. NSF checks may require future payments to be made by money order or certified check and may result in a termination of services.

Late pick-up fee
Families must pick-up their child by 6 p.m. If you pick-up your child after 6 p.m., families will be assessed a late fee of $5 per child for every 5 minutes or fraction thereof after 6 p.m. The fee will be billed to your account on your next invoice. If families are more than 30 minutes late and staff have not heard from the parent/guardian or successfully reached a person listed on your child's emergency contact form, the police will be contacted for assistance. Continued late pick-up may result in termination of child care services.

Finders Fee
A $10 finders fee will be assessed to a families account if their child's after-school absence is not communicated with A+ staff as this results in a search process that takes staff away from the care of children.

Parent/guardian role
Adventures Plus is dedicated to quality development and engagement of children and youth in partnership with families, schools and communities. The role of the parent/guardian in Adventures Plus is vital. Parent involvement and communication will generate a unified, healthy experience for the child.
Adventures Plus strives to support families by being sensitive and responsive to changing community and family needs. We provide a safe, nurturing atmosphere in which children can:
- Build meaningful social, citizenship and life skills.
- Develop positive self-esteem.
- Learn to respect and appreciate the differences in each other.

Important policy information

Change in child care
Changes in child care agreements may be changed electronically through your online Adventures Plus account. A change of schedule fee of $25 per contract will be applied to your account. Change requests require a one week notice.

Emergency closing
All national weather safety procedures will be followed in the event of severe weather. Adventures Plus will be closed on days when school is cancelled due to weather-related conditions. School closing information will be posted on all school district websites and local news outlets will be notified. If school starts late, Adventures Plus also starts late. (Example: If school starts two hours late, Adventures Plus will open at 8:30 a.m. rather than the regular opening time of 6:30 a.m.)
Adventures Plus will close in the event of an emergency closing of the school during the school day. Parents/guardians are asked to monitor radio and television announcements. If a parent/guardian cannot be reached, staff will attempt to contact an authorized person listed on your child's emergency contact form. -
Re-enrollment
Families may re-enroll in the Adventures Plus school-age care program only as space is available. The parent/guardian will be charged a $30 per child re-registration fee. Any outstanding balances due to the program must be paid in full prior to re-enrollment.

Safety
Adventures Plus strives to support families by being supportive and responsive to changing community and family needs by providing a safe and nurturing atmosphere for families and their children. Procedures are followed at each site to ensure the safety of your child when in our care.
Authorized pick-up of childrenUpon registration, the parent/guardian will be asked to list the names of people authorized to pick-up their child. These people must be 16 years of age or older. They will also be asked to show identification when signing children out and must be on the authorized pick-up list in order for children to be released to them. Account owners may add to or revise their authorized pick-up lists at any time by logging on to their Adventures Plus account and making desired changes.
Children must be escorted into and out of the care site and signed in and out by an authorized adult or sibling 16 years of age or older. Children cannot be dropped off or picked up at the door.Fobs
All Adventures Plus families will use a fob (a small, round device which can clip to your key ring) to gain access to the school building during Adventures Plus program hours before- and after-school. Fobs will work only at the designated security entrances of the school site, which are noted at each school. During school hours, all families must enter through the main door of the school.
Medical emergencies
In the event of a medical emergency, staff will take the necessary steps in obtaining care for your child. Staff will administer first-aid as deemed appropriate and the parent/guardian will be informed of the accident and first-aid care applied. If appropriate, the parent/guardian will be asked to pick-up the child from the program.

If severe medical emergency care is needed by a physician or paramedic, staff will contact 911 immediately and the parent/guardian will be contacted immediately after the 911 call is made. If a parent/guardian cannot be reached, staff will attempt to contact a person listed on the child's emergency contact information. In the event that a child need further medical attention, they will be transported to a medical facility. Adventures Plus reserves the right, with assistance of paramedics, to determine if the child will be transported by emergency vehicle.


Data privacy
Adventures Plus complies with state and federal data privacy laws. Information gathered from registration and medical forms is shared with Adventures Plus staff. Information regarding families who are funded by Anoka or Hennepin counties is shared with the county community services department.
Weapons policy
In accordance with school district policy, Adventures Plus will not tolerate weapons or toy weapons on school property. A student in possession of a weapon or toy weapon may be subject to suspension or termination.
Child abuse and neglect
Under Minnesota state law, Adventures Plus staff are considered mandated reporters and are required to report suspected physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect of children to county child protection or the local police.

Student discipline
In accordance with the Adventures Plus goal of providing a safe, secure and nurturing atmosphere for all children, the program abides by the Anoka-Hennepin School District student discipline policy.Disruptive behavior is defined as verbal or physical activity which may include, but is not limited to, behavior that requires excessive attention from staff, or ignores or disregards the rules which guide behavior during the school day and program time. In order to minimize disruptive or unacceptable behavior, Adventures Plus uses a variety of techniques such as preventative measures, role modeling, redirection, verbal intervention and consequences.The Adventures Plus program has a responsibility to ensure the safety of the individual, other students and staff. The program reserves the right to terminate care immediately should there be a severe act of aggression towards students, staff or property. If a child's behavior materially or substantially violates the rights of others, is substantially disruptive, endangers themselves, other children or staff, or damages school or Adventures Plus property a suspension of one to five days may be implemented.
Conferences
Conferences are available with Adventures Plus staff as requested by the parent/guardian or as needed.

Student illness
If children attend the program with any of the following symptoms, the parent/guardian will be contacted immediately to pick-up the child:
- Temperature registering above 100 degrees (auxiliary). Temperature must be normal (98.6°F) for 24 hours before returning.
- Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, any undiagnosed rash, discharge from eye, ears or profuse nasal discharge, severe cold symptoms.
Exposure to communicable diseases (whooping cough, severe sore throat, measles, pink eye, ringworm, fifth's disease, mumps, chicken pox, diphtheria, scarlet fever, strep throat) should be reported to staff. If your child is contagious, he/she may not attend Adventures Plus until 24 hours after medication begins.
Child pick-up due to illnessIf a parent is unable to pick-up the sick child within one hour of being contacted, they are expected to contact an authorized person to pick-up the child. In cases where the parent/guardian is unable to be reached, the person listed on the emergency form will be contacted. When isolation of a child due to communicable illness is necessary, the child will rest in a space away from other children until a parent/guardian arrives for pick-up.
Children attending Adventures Plus programs should be healthy enough to engage in all activities. Adventures Plus staff are not trained to make a medical diagnosis but only to observe and inform the parent/guardian of any signs of illness. If staff observe signs of illness, the parent/guardian will be contacted and will need to pick-up their child.
MedicationsAdventures Plus staff can administer only prescription medications that are in the original prescription bottle with the child's name. Pills must be cut and counted at home. An authorized form (available at each site) must be completed and signed in order for the Adventures Plus staff to administer the medication. Please send a correct measurement utensil for liquid medication.
Over the counter medication will only be administered with a doctor's notice showing dosage and timeline. The first dose of a new medication should be administered at home. Children may not transport or store medication in or with their belongings, unless it is an approved inhaler. -
Withdrawal
Online withdrawal is required when a parent/guardian intends to withdraw a child from the Adventures Plus school-age care program. Fees will continue to be incurred until the effective withdrawal date. (If more than one child is enrolled from the same family, a withdrawal must be requested for each child's contract.) One week notice required.
If a contract is withdrawn prior to the start of a season, families are required to pay the $30 per child non-refundable registration fee, up to a maximum of $60/ family per season. -
Questions and concerns
The Adventures Plus school-age care adheres to a parent/guardian grievance procedure in the event that your family encounters a situation that may require additional time and care from program staff. The best course of action to take:
- Talk to the site coordinator at your child's site. You may call the site coordinator, leave a written message or schedule a conference.
- If needed, contact the Adventures Plus program coordinator in charge of your child's site. The coordinator is also available for a scheduled conference upon request.
- If a problem is not resolved in steps one or two, contact the program supervisor. The supervisor is available for scheduled conferences by phone or in person.

Adventures Plus advisory council
The Adventures Plus Advisory Council is a group of program parents, guardians and staff who work together to provide high quality child care for families with school-age children.
