We are disappointed to share that we will no longer be able to offer in-person Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes and activities this summer.

This was a difficult decision to make. In order for us to provide the safest activities and classes possible, we are following state health guidelines and direction from the Minnesota departments of education (MDE) and health (MDH), and the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC) regarding COVID-19, which outline social distancing and highly predictable class settings.

While this was not in our plans for this summer, we hope you understand that this decision was made with the health and safety of your children in mind as we continue to navigate these challenging times.

We remain committed to connecting with and supporting families with young children as safely as we can in this uncertain time. Please follow Anoka-Hennepin ECFE and Preschool on Facebook for information on online parent discussions and fun circle time videos with our licensed parent educators and teachers.

    Parent and child interaction

You and your child will spend time together enjoying activities designed to enhance learning, whether it is with children the same age as your child or with a group of mixed-age children. Mixed-age classes also give families with multiple children the opportunity to attend class together, at the same time. Families will leave class with new ideas and activities to do together at home.

    Parent education

Parents will meet with other families and a licensed parent educator to share ideas and discuss topics such as development, temperament and guidance. There are class opportunities for parents only, in addition to opportunities that children and parents attend together and then separate to practice independence while learning and playing with early childhood teachers. Children will enjoy music, art, stories and large/small muscle activities as they play and learn.

    Playtime

Families may attend playtime opportunities to play with their children in early childhood classrooms on a drop-in basis. New toys and sensory activities are organized for children each week to make each visit new and exciting.
