Welcome to Mrs. L. Brumbaugh'sFamily and Consumer Sciences Classroom WebsiteHello! I joined the CPHS family in 1993. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from the University of Minnesota and my Educational Leadership Master's degree from the University of Saint Mary's. I teach in the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Department for grades 9-12. I enjoy teaching all FCS classes at CPHS as I thoroughly believe in the curriculum and the lifelong lessons that are taught I am very proud of the fact that CPHS has an outstanding School Readiness Preschool Lab program located in the FCS Department for up to 80 children of ages 3-5. CPHS Child and Humna Development, Early Childhood Careers and Education, Teaching & Training students are able to participate in the Lab School, interact with the children and learn teaching techniques. As you may know, there is a substantial teacher shortage in the country. These courses provide career exploration for students as they cnsider the possibility of becoming a teacher, counseolr, social worker, coach, etc.The Consumer Strategies course provides an outstanding background for all students as they prepare to live, thrive and become financially independent beyond high school. The units covered in the course are: Decision Making, Budgeting, Savings/Investments, Major Purchases, Housing Options, Transportation Options, Management of Resources, Bank Services, Checking Accounts, Insurance, Using and Protecting Credit and Career Options.
