Welcome to my classroom website

Greetings! I'm Kaia Hirt and I'll be your English teacher this trimester.

I have been teaching since 1998, although I took a short break from teaching to be a stay-at-home parent. I am licensed in English Language Arts and Speech-Theater-Communication. I earned my bachelors degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, and my masters from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls.

My husband Tony and I have two daughters: Jasmine (20) and Chloe (17). We have two goofy cats that that make us laugh. Eddie is an orange tabby, and Willow is a black Siberian with white mittens. I enjoy reading, watching movies, listening to music, and going to the theater. A few of my favorite books include The House on Mango Street, The Lord of the Rings series, and The Hate U Give.

I love teaching and getting to know students. I have taught grades 9-12, Journalism, and AVID. In past, I have been a speech team coach, theater director, and social justice club advisor. Our classroom will be welcoming, respectful, and productive. It will also be challenging and fun! We will grow together. I am here to help you with anything and I'm looking forward to being your teacher.
