Teaming up for positivity at high school athletic events and activities
(08/30/2024) Students from all five of Anoka-Hennepin’s traditional high schools participated in “Bleacher Captain” training, focused on encouraging sportsmanship and positivity among fans and spectators at school events.
The training was held at Andover High School on Thursday, Aug. 29, including student leaders from Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Champlin Park and Coon Rapids high schools. Each school in the district designated student athletes and leaders to participate in the event to gear up for the upcoming sports and activities season.
The seminar was led by the activities director from each of the five district high schools and included group discussions by students to share their experiences as student-athletes and spectators at events. Bleacher Captains will be visible at all Northwest Suburban Conference (NWSC)-sponsored activities and events to help promote a positive environment and respectful behavior and cheers for all players, fans, opponents and game personnel.
